welcome

Where Norway stretches east into the Barents Sea, on the northern edge of the Varangerfjord, lies Krampenes – known as Ganešnjárga in Sámi and Kramppinen in Kven.

Between sea and tundra, a place where wind shapes the hours and light decides the mood.

Twelve cabins rise from the land, grass-covered and low, following the contours of the coast. Each faces the horizon. Each holds warmth within while the weather moves freely outside.

The vision is to create a basecamp for those who travel to the Arctic to listen, observe, and feel part of the rhythm that defines this place.

The Place

Krampenes stands as a quiet base for Arctic life. Built with care, owned locally, and grounded in what already exists.

Silence is luxury

Between sea and tundra, a place where wind shapes the hours and light decides the mood. Twelve cabins rise from the land, grass-covered and low, following the contours of the coast. Each faces the horizon. Each holds warmth within while the weather moves freely outside. The vision is to create a basecamp for those who travel to the Arctic to listen, observe, and feel part of the rhythm that defines this place.

Eanavu

[æ-na-vu] / “Ee-ah-nah-voo” . Krampenes belongs to its place. It is shaped by weather, guided by light, and defined by attention. It exists nowhere else. Eanavu is a name born in the far northeast of Norway, where land, sea, and light meet. The word is inspired by the Northern Sámi eana “earth, land” and vuotna “fjord”, as in Várjjatvuotna, the Sámi name for the Varangerfjord. The Kven name for fjord is vuono. It reflects a landscape shaped by contrast and connection between cultures, between silence and storm, between ancient land and the people who belong to it. Eanavu carries the idea that true presence begins where you feel the ground beneath you and see the sea before you.

Eternal sunshine, endless nights

In the far northeast, the seasons are not measured in months, but in light. Summer arrives without darkness, a slow, golden eternity where the sun circles above the horizon and the sea never sleeps. The air tastes of salt and tundra, and time stretches into something softer. Days blend together, and you forget what night feels like. Then, winter returns, silent, deep, and endless. The light fades until only the stars remain, and the aurora takes over the sky. Each movement of green and violet becomes a story, each night a small miracle. The cold sharpens the senses; the stillness becomes a sound of its own. Here, both seasons belong to those who listen. To those who understand that true luxury is not found in what you add, but in what you choose to keep.
